How to Remove a Background from an Image

A useful cutout starts with a clear subject and ends with a careful edge check. Here is a simple workflow for getting from a source photo to a transparent image.

Choose a good source image

Use the largest clear version you have. A sharp subject with visible contrast against its surroundings gives an automated tool more information to work with. Avoid screenshots of tiny images when an original file is available.

Remove the background and inspect the edge

Upload a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image to the bgfree.app tool. Review hair, transparent or reflective objects, and areas where subject and background share similar colors. Automated segmentation can leave halos or remove details in low contrast areas, so inspect at full size.

Save and test the result

Download the transparent PNG and place it over both a light and a dark color. This makes pale fringes and missed background patches easier to spot. Keep the original alongside the result so you can restart or compare.
